Let’s Talk About Waves
One of my signature looks is creating undone texture in the hair.
I love a beautiful, seamless wave pattern that feels sexy, undone, and effortless. There’s something about the perfect wave that feels so satisfying. I’m going to break down why I would use a flat iron vs. curling iron for a beach wave effect.
#1
Flat Iron:
Typically I love this iron when I really want to control the wave pattern. How much I glide the iron down after each wrist rotation will produce a different result. If I want a tighter wave, I can create more undulations down the length of the hair or I could create less for a barely there wave pattern. In the video below I used the ghd gold styler. This is a great intro flat iron for anyone who isn’t ready to invest in a more serious styler. If you feel ready to purchase something with even more advanced technology that protects the hair, I would definitely recommend ghd’s platinum+ styler. It constantly readjusts the temperature for even and more effective heat styling with minimal damage.

Curling Iron:
I do sometimes love to use the ghd curve classic curl iron on small pieces of hair, alternating directions with the iron to create a beachy effect. This ends up producing so much texture in the hair, more of a defined curl, and can be used as a great base for updo’s and ponys.
This usually ends up being pretty time consuming as I think it’s really important to take super small sections for the best, more natural looking result. You can also customize the result by twisting the hair all in the same direction, alternating, or adding more or less rotations. For a full video on my technique, you can watch here:
